Background and Challenge
When Costco launched its first bricks & mortar store on the China mainland, the challenge was to let Chinese middle-class consumers understand the value of Costco's offer - great products at good prices.
What we did?
Brandigo handled all of Costco's marketing and communications activities in the lead up to, and during, the launch.
This included complete management of the brand's WeChat channel (including design and production of original content), planning of advertising and KOL marketing campaigns, management of the launch press conference with over 90 journalists in attendance, as well as the design and management of the new store's opening celebration events.
As a result of Brandigo's work, Costco Shanghai sold more membership cards pre-opening than any other Costco store globally, breaking its own records and expectations. The warehouse store has been packed ever since, generating worldwide press coverage and a jump in Costco's share prices.
